For Immediate Release
Senator Regola Receives New Committee Assignments Regola to Chair Senate Local Government Committee Harrisburg – State Senator Bob Regola, R-39th District, announced that he has been appointed by the Senate President Pro Tempore, Joe Scarnati, to serve as Chairman of the Senate Local Government Committee, Vice-Chairman of the Banking & Insurance Committee, and member of the Appropriations, Communications & Technology, Game & Fisheries, and Law & Justice Committees. “As a former township supervisor, I am looking forward to leading the Local Government Committee,” said Senator Regola. “I know how important it is to partner with local officials -- and not just having a one-way street coming from Harrisburg. Working together, I believe we can help move Pennsylvania in the right direction.”
“As Vice-Chairman of the Banking & Insurance Committee, my highest priority will be to make health care more affordable for Pennsylvanians,” Sen. Regola said.
The Senate Appropriations Committee, which oversees the budgets of all state agencies, will provide Senator Regola an opportunity to play an increased role in controlling state spending.
“I am very interested in joining the Appropriations Committee,” said Sen. Regola. “Last session, we came close to enacting legislation that would limit state spending to the rate of inflation. It is my hope that we can soon pass this much-needed legislation.”
The 2007-08 Legislative Session marks the second half of Senator Regola’s first term in the Senate. Among his accomplishments in the last session was a law that permits home schooled students to participate in their local school district’s extracurricular activities.
