Senator Regola provides grant to Food Bank
$6,000 will help upgrade refrigeration
State Senator Bob Regola recently (January 27) presented a $6,000 state grant to the Westmoreland County Food Bank at its “Winter Warm Up” Dinner. The WCFB will use the money towards the purchase of a compressor that runs coolers and freezers at its headquarters in Delmont. The current compressors are aging and compressor failure could mean the loss of thousands of pounds of perishable food. “The Westmoreland County Food Bank is a vital resource that provides an essential service to many families in our community,” Senator Regola said. “I am pleased that I was able to secure this state money to assist this fine organization in its efforts to help disadvantaged families.” The Westmoreland County Food Bank is a private, not-for-profit organization that supplies food to more than 7,000 families each month through a network of assistance programs. Of each dollar donated to WCFB, 97 cents goes to food and food programs.
