Senator Regola appointed to Local Government
Commission
Currently serves as Chairman
of Senate Local Government Committee
Senate
President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati has appointed Senator Bob
Regola to serve on the Pennsylvania Local Government
Commission, a bi-partisan, bi-cameral legislative service
agency that conducts in depth public policy research and
provides recommendations to the General Assembly on issues
affecting municipalities.
“I am
pleased to hereby appoint you as a member of the Local
Government Commission,” Senator Scarnati wrote in a letter
to Senator Regola. “Given your role as Chairman of the
(Senate) Local Government Committee, it is most appropriate
that you represent the Senate on the Commission.”
The Local
Government Commission, created in 1935, is one of the oldest
agencies of its kind in the United States. The Commission
is comprised of five Senators and five House Members,
appointed by the President Pro Tempore of the Senate and
Speaker of the House, respectively.
“I am very
pleased to join the Local Government Commission,” said Sen.
Regola. “The Commission’s strong grasp of issues affecting
municipalities will aid me in my role as Chairman of the
Local Government Committee. Furthermore, I look at this as
another opportunity to improve the interrelationship between
state and local governments.”
