Senator Regola presents $25k to
shelter
State funding to assist
Action for Animals shelter
Today
(February 16) went to the dogs (and cats) for Senator
Bob Regola, as he presented a $25,000 grant to Action
for Animals to use toward building a new animal shelter.
“Action
for Animals plans to use the money toward its new
facility - something that, unfortunately, is necessary,”
Senator Regola said. “In the best of all worlds, we
wouldn’t need this shelter. However, for the stray and
abandoned animals that it saves and for those that are
adopted by loving owners, Action For Animals is a
godsend. It truly deserves our support.”
The
organization recently purchased 3.6 acres including
concrete pathways and two block buildings. The property
also has more than an acre of wooded area that will be
ideal for walking/exercising pets. The agency will be
able to offer separate dog and cat wings, maintain a low
cost spay/neuter outreach clinic and offer other onsite
activities such as obedience classes.
“This
is a great new site for Action for Animals,” Senator
Regola said. “They have access to public water and
sewage and ample parking. Since they are in a more
accessible location, they are hoping for a major
increase in adoptions, which will allow them to care for
a larger number of animals each year.”
