Regola: Senate Puts State Laws On-Line
As part of its effort to make state government more open and transparent, the Senate recently changed its rules to require the placement of Pennsylvania acts and statutes on the Internet, said Senator Bob Regola (R-39), a leader in the efforts to reform state government.
For the first time, citizens can now access state laws on-line at www.pasen.gov.
“This is a long overdue change,” Senator Regola said. “Most states have already made their laws accessible to the public. I am pleased that we have finally joined this list. Citizens can now access laws on-line. This provides quicker, easier access for citizens seeking legislative information, in addition to contributing to a more open state government.” Senator Regola has taken a strong stance in the effort to enact government reform as he is the prime sponsor of a Constitutional Amendment to end “lame duck” voting sessions. Earlier this year, the Senate placed the following information on the Senate’s website: • The Senate’s Legislative Journal -- which includes the full text of all floor debates. • Senate Roll Call Votes -- both Committee and Floor Votes. • Proposed Senate Amendments to Legislation. ### Contact: Nate Silcox (717) 787-6063 |
