Senate passes bill banning bonuses Special Session energy bill moves forward Passage of legislation banning the payment of bonuses to all state employees and committee approval of an energy bill highlighted the state Senate’s actions during the week of October 15th, according to Senator Bob Regola (R-39). Senate Bill 986 would make the payment of bonuses a 3rd degree misdemeanor. The bill now goes to the House for consideration. “The practice of awarding bonuses, as we have seen in the Legislature, the Administration and, especially, among the various affiliated state agencies in the past, is plain and simply bad public policy and must be stopped,” Senator Regola said. “As a cosponsor of the measure, I am pleased that the Senate acted on this bill and I sincerely hope the House will quickly do the same.” In other action, the Senate Special Session Committee on Energy Policies took the first step this week toward enacting a new Pennsylvania energy policy with approval of Special Session Senate Bill 1, the “Alternative Energy Investment Act.” Special Session SB 1 proposes using existing state revenues to provide grants and loans for projects geared toward improving energy supply and efficiency, conservation and reduced demand for energy. ### Contact: Nathan Silcox (717) 787-6063
