Welcome to the home page for the Pennsylvania Senate Local Government Committee.  As a former Chairman of the Hempfield Township Board of Supervisors, I am looking forward to leading this Committee.  I know how important it is to partner with local officials -- and not just having a one-way street coming from Harrisburg.”

The Local Government Committee is one of twenty-one Pennsylvania Senate standing committees. The Committee reviews legislation that affects Pennsylvania’s counties, townships, boroughs, and municipal authorities. The Committee also examines issues that shape land use planning and development. Pennsylvania has a rich tradition of local control with over 25,000 municipalities (counties, cities, boroughs, towns, and townships) and over 38,000 county and municipal officials
