The bill proposes convicts be assessed a fee that would pay for ongoing operations and periodic upgrades to the centers. Currently coming online, the centers can detect the true identities of arrested persons and tell the arresting officer if a warrant is outstanding for the prisoner. Since 1980, Pennsylvania’s 18 Small Business Development Centers (SBDC) have helped in the start-up of more than 22,000 new businesses in Pennsylvania, creating more than 98,800 jobs, and generating more than $738 million in new tax revenues. During this week all 18 SBDC’s, including St. Vincent College, will offer their First Step Workshops free of charge to entrepreneurs.
04/24/2007 - Senator Regola stood with members of the General Assembly
in support of 2nd Amendment rights at the 2nd Annual Right to Keep and Bear
Arms Rally at the State Capitol. At the podium is Melody Zullinger,
Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen's Clubs.
Speakers at the rally spoke against House Bill 760, “the Firearm
Registration Act,” which would trample amendment rights by requiring all gun
owners to annually register all their firearms with the State Police. 03/23/2007 - Senator Regola hosted an open house at his Mt. Pleasant office. Senator Regola enjoyed the opportunity to meet with his constituents to hear their questions concerning state government. It also gives constituents the chance to visit the office to learn how Senator Regola and his staff can help them with various issues. Senator Regola has four district offices that are open five days a week to serve constituents. 03/23/07 - Senator Regola visited St. Vincent College to speak to Dr. Pellathy’s local and state government classes. Students had the opportunity to learn more about Senator Regola’s background in both local and state government. Senator Regola also discussed his role as the Chairman of the Senate’s Local Government Committee. 03/22/2007 - State Senator Bob Regola presented a $15,000 check to Rostraver Township to help cover the costs of its police station expansion project. Senator Regola recently met with Rostraver Township Chairman Nick Lorenzo and Chief Resetar to discuss the building plans. The money will be used to help pay for an expansion of the police station. The new area will house necessary equipment to interview, process and hold prisoners. The facility will also be equipped with videoconferencing needed to arraign defendants and assist the public in obtaining emergency protection from abuse orders.

Township residents were recently invited to attend a Constituent Breakfast
hosted by Senator Regola. In an effort to meet with constituents, Senator
Regola organizes breakfast meeting in various parts of the 39th district.
The events are beneficial for both constituents, who have the chance to meet
with Senator Regola to discuss issues, and Senator Regola who is able to
better identify with the citizens of his district.
